West Biofuels’ proprietary technology efficiently transforms biomass into energy

Power Production Platform

  1. Biomass is placed in a high-temperature, low oxygen environment forcing the release of volatile gases. The reaction generates heat which is transferred to the thermal oil heater, creating biochar in the process.

  2. Thermal oil heater transfers heat to the heat exchanger providing energy to the organic rankine cycle (“ORC”). The ORC generates power by cycling a hydrocarbon working fluid through the turbine instead of steam.

  3. The process creates usable heat that can be sold to adjacent facilities with needs for drying or other activities requiring continuous heating.

  4. The pumps bring condensed oil back to the beginning of each process, creating a closed loop system without any waste streams. Reduced maintenance on the system provides cost savings.
